Boss list and rewards
The order follows the KeenGamer walkthrough. The middle of the game is partly open, so your order may differ. According to Steam stats, more players have beaten Talos than Carmilla.

There are also two cards without a regular fight: The Judge from Saint Louis (balance the Scales of Justice in the Palace of Justice) and The Self for the fight with Rose's shadow (Gallery of the Four Virtues), which you need for the true ending. You get the double jump in Notre-Dame (Choir), not from a boss.
Large gates in the game need keys, which the bosses of each area give you. If you cannot go any further, check whether you skipped a boss nearby. Activate the nearest mirror (save point) before every fight, because when you die you go back to the last mirror.
General combat rules
- Regular weapon attacks refill your mana, so you can cast Arcana spells often.
- Almost every boss has a clear pause after a series of attacks. Attack then, and dodge during the series instead of trading hits.
- The game has a Custom Mode with assists, but it locks some achievements (achievements).
1. The Fallen
The first boss, also in the demo. Dodge away when it starts an attack and come back once it finishes. You can knock the thrown cross back with your weapon or a spell instead of just running from it. Winning gives you the Arcane Whip: the whip latches onto glowing anchors and lets you swing over chasms.
2. Medusa
Turn away from her when she charges the gaze that turns you to stone. Stay away from the water so you have room to dodge. You cannot latch onto her with the whip. Only attack after she finishes an attack. On Steam the thread "How did you defeat Medusa?" is one of the most commented, so you are not the only one struggling.
3. Joan of Arc
Keep moving when she closes the distance. Watch her sword and dodge away from the swing, then attack once the combo is over. The Infernal Pyre spell from her Arcana is needed later in Notre-Dame.
4–5. Death and Isaac (first encounters)
Both are story first encounters. Death in the Catacombs: keep your potions ready and activate the mirror before the fight. Isaac on the bridge is an illusion and does not count for the "Finish Hector's work" achievement. Stay mobile and counter after his combos.
6. Carmilla
Destroy the floating skulls she summons. It takes a lot of pressure off. Move into the gaps between the blood columns, not under them. Attack when she resurfaces after her attacks. She gives you Aerial Rush, a sideways dash in mid-air.
7. Talos
A fight on platforms among environmental hazards. Use the platforms to avoid the hazards and only hit when you have a safe opening. The Smash you get (down + jump in mid-air) breaks blocks throughout the game, and the Fist of Talos spell unlocks the fight with Arthur.
8. Mammon
His lair is behind the eye door in the Circle of Greed (Catacombs). Wait out the attacks that travel along the floor on the whip rings near the ceiling. Move between the beams, not through them. Attack when he hovers or finishes an attack.
9. Death (second fight)
In Notre-Dame. Stay mobile, reposition after every series and only start longer combos during a pause. When getting close is too risky, use spells. Soul Harvest from this fight lets you cross the Clock Tower safely. Without it, the clock on the bridge leads to the bad ending (endings).
10. Isaac (second fight)
In the Heart of the Clock. Activate the nearby mirror before going in. Keep moving, dodge his attacks and use your strongest weapon and spells in the openings. This fight gives the "Finish Hector's work" achievement.
11. Dracula
- Phase 1 (Court of the Night): Dracula teleports often, so do not start long attacks before he reappears. Move into the gaps between the fire pillars and hit him after his spells. Save healing items for moments when you cannot avoid a hit.
- Phase 2 (winged demon, Castle Rooftops): step away from where the meteors will land and reposition before the claw sweeps. Hit him after every series.
Having the Absolution spell (The Self card) equipped when you defeat the second phase gives the true ending. Without it you get the normal ending, and the game continues.
Optional: Arthur and the Succubus
- Arthur: equip the Fist of Talos spell, go back to the altar in the Notre-Dame chapel and press "Interact" (R1, E on PC) until a cutscene starts. Jump over the ground waves and stay between the beams. The reward is Excalibur, a legendary sword with 100 attack.
- Succubus: in Belmont Manor, which you enter through the Hall of Mirrors. Avoid her low attacks and destroy her illusions to break her barrier. Once she is stunned, deal as much damage as you can.
Every boss has an achievement: achievement list.
