In short: who the Warrior is for
The Warrior fights in melee wearing plate armor and draws its power from Rage and stances. According to Blizzard, the class lacks the tools to easily recover from taking too much damage. Every one of the 10 races can play a Warrior, including both versions of Skyborne (Icy Veins).
The Warrior is for you if:
- you want to tank (Protection) or deal melee damage (Fury, Arms);
- you play in a group or a duo: with a healer you level much faster;
- you accept that solo it is still the hardest class to level, though easier than in Classic (Conquest Capped).
You get talents from level 10 (1 point per level) and Dual Specialization at level 40. You change them at a class trainer in a capital city: talents.
Warrior in tier lists
The lists judge different things, which is why the Warrior lands in S on one and in C on another.
| List | Date and level | Warrior rating |
|---|---|---|
| Wowhead DPS | 8.10.2026, level 30 | Arms A, Fury A |
| Wowhead tanks | 6.10.2026, level 30 | Protection A (Protection Paladin is S) |
| Mobalytics DPS | 12.10.2026, level 30 | Fury A, Arms C (read from icons) |
| Mobalytics tanks | 13.10.2026, level 30 | Protection S |
| Conquest Capped | 13.10.2026, level 60 forecast | Fury S, Arms A, Protection S (shared with Protection Paladin) |
| Leveling: Conquest Capped and Mobalytics | 13.10.2026; levels 1–20, checked 18.10.2026 | C |
| Forever Open qualifiers | 17.10.2026, level 30 | last place, 39% win rate |
These are different criteria, not a contradiction: at 30 pets and DoTs dominate, while at 60, according to Conquest Capped, weapon damage and crits take over. Nobody has played at 60 yet, so the S for Fury is a forecast. All classes compared: which class to play.
Specializations
| Spec | Role | Weapon | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arms | melee DPS | two-handed | Rend and Overpower, Mortal Strike at 31 points; new Spearing Strike and Weaponmaster; best 2-target cleave (Sweeping Strikes) |
| Fury | melee DPS | two one-handers | Bloodthirst at the bottom of the tree, Whirlwind always hits with both weapons; tree reworked on October 8, 2026 |
| Protection | tank | one-hander and shield | Shield Block, Revenge, Thunder Clap in Defensive Stance; many of the strongest talents require a shield |
The dual-wielding tank from Classic ("fury prot") is "pretty much dead" according to WillE (YouTube, October 5, 2026), because Defiance only works with a shield. Conquest Capped still lists "Fury tank" among its fun builds.
What's new in Forever compared to Classic
Rage, the most important change:
- Rage from your hits depends on weapon speed, not on the damage dealt.
- Crits generate extra Rage: since October 8, 2026 +100% (previously +75%, nothing at the start of the beta).
- Rage from damage taken ignores armor, and shields such as Power Word: Shield no longer take it away.
- The Classic trick is gone: queueing Heroic Strike no longer raises off-hand hit chance.
Abilities and talents:
- Tactical Mastery is baseline from level 14: you keep 10 Rage when switching stances.
- New Victory Rush (level 20): an instant attack after killing an enemy, heals 10% of max health, 30 s cooldown.
- Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall no longer share a cooldown. Retaliation and Shield Wall have 15 min, Recklessness still 30 min (Wowhead).
- Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance (6 s cooldown). Bloodthirst no longer heals but grants 10% movement speed.
- Battle Shout has Improved Battle Shout built in and since October 15, 2026 affects the whole raid. Slam has an 18 s cooldown.
- Weaponmaster replaced the Axe, Mace, Sword and Polearm specializations.
Icy Veins and Wowhead descriptions of Raging Blows and Dual Wield Specialization from September and early October predate October 8, 2026. Today Raging Blows reduces the cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3 Rage, and Dual Wield Specialization gives no Rage or hit.
Races for a Warrior
Blizzard heavily changed racials in the October 15, 2026 build (notes posted October 16): weapon-type bonuses are gone.
| Race | Faction | What it gives a Warrior (after the changes) | What guides said (before the changes) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orc | Horde | Blood Fury +10% Attack Power, 3 min cooldown (was 2); Savage +1% crit | best on the Horde (Conquest Capped, Wowhead) |
| Troll | Horde | Regeneration 20% in combat (was 10%); Rapid Regeneration: 50% health over 6 s out of combat | Wowhead: close to Orc |
| Undead | Horde | Touch of the Grave: 20% chance, 25 s cooldown; Will of the Forsaken less needed thanks to Berserker Rage | Wowhead: close to Orc |
| Tauren | Horde | Endurance +2% critical damage; War Stomp: 2 s stun on up to 5 enemies, 90 s cooldown | Icy Veins: for tanking |
| Windshaper Skyborne | Horde | Wind Blessed +3% Haste (was 1%), Elemental Insight +5% damage against Elementals | Icy Veins: weak |
| Human | Alliance | Ruthless +2% crit with any weapon; Will to Survive breaks a stun every 3 min | Conquest Capped: best for PvP |
| Night Elf | Alliance | Elune's Light +10% crit for 15 s, 3 min cooldown; Quickness 1% dodge and 2% speed | best on the Alliance for PvE (all three) |
| Gnome | Alliance | Expansive Mind +5% max Rage; Escape Artist removes roots and snares | Wowhead: solid |
| Dwarf | Alliance | Earth Fury +2% critical damage; Stoneform −10% physical damage taken | Wowhead: weak (Fury) |
| High Order Skyborne | Alliance | like Windshaper, but with Read Ley Line instead of Skysight | Icy Veins: weak |
Race rankings were made before the October 15, 2026 changes. Since then Orc is weaker (Blood Fury every 3 min, Savage only 1%), while Human and Tauren are stronger. No guide has recalculated the "best race" yet (as of October 18, 2026). All racials and disputed values: races and Skyborne.
Warrior leveling: which spec to pick
Up to level 15 every spec plays the same (Battle Stance, damage talents). The paths split at 16, when you get Shield Block. Sources disagree about Arms:
| Source | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Conquest Capped (12.10.2026) | Protection 16–30, then stay Protection or go Fury with two good weapons; Arms only in a duo or group |
| Player on r/classicwow (12.10.2026, characters up to 30) | Protection "best warrior leveling spec"; Fury viable but painful early; Arms "pretty much dead" |
| Wowhead Arms (6.10.2026) | Arms leveling feels "quite good" compared to Vanilla |
| Mobalytics (checked 18.10.2026) | Arms as the recommended leveling spec |
Where the sources agree: Protection with a shield is the safest way to level solo.
Warrior build up to level 30 (Wowhead)
Beta builds for level 30 (21 points). One-point gold medal talents unlock at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points in a tree, so at levels 20, 25, 30 and 40 at the earliest.
Protection 3/0/18 (Riyani, October 6, 2026), Wowhead calculator:
| Levels | Talent |
|---|---|
| 10–14 | Shield Specialization 5/5 |
| 15–17 | Improved Revenge 3/3 |
| 18–20 | Improved Thunder Clap 3/3 |
| 21–22 | Master of Defense 2/2 |
| 23–25 | Defiance 3/3 |
| 26 | Vanguard |
| 27 | Last Stand |
| 28–30 | Improved Rend 3/3 (Arms) |
After 30, Conquest Capped takes Focused Rage, Bastion and Shield Slam, then parry and Cruelty. Since October 15, Bastion and Focused Rage have swapped rows (5 and 6).
Arms 21/0/0 (shoop, October 6, 2026), calculator: Improved Rend 3, Improved Heroic Strike 2, Improved Overpower 2, Improved Tactical Mastery 5, Deep Wounds 3, Impale 2, Two-Handed Weapon Specialization 1, Anger Management, Spearing Strike, Sweeping Strikes.
Fury 0/21/0 (Babyhoof, level 30; the build already includes the October 8 Fury rework), calculator: Cruelty 5, Unbridled Wrath 5, Furious Precision 3, Lingering Rage 2, Dual Wield Specialization 5, Death Wish at 30.
The Legacy perk Talented gives up to 5 extra points (it requires 10 Legacy points; at 30 Wowhead calls it "achievable, but not expected"). With it, Wowhead adds: Protection Improved Sunder Armor 2 and Focused Rage 3, Arms Bloodthrill and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization 3/3, Fury Enrage 4 and Flurry 1.
Rotation in plain words
Protection, single target:
- Charge, then Bloodrage.
- Shield Block often (with Shield Specialization it refunds Rage and enables Revenge), Revenge.
- Thunder Clap, Demoralizing Shout, in a group Sunder Armor (5 stacks on a boss).
- Rend once you have plenty of threat, Heroic Strike with excess Rage.
On multiple targets: Thunder Clap earlier, Rend on different targets, excess Rage into Cleave.
Arms: Battle Shout before the pull, Rend at all times, Overpower, Thunder Clap (slows enemy attacks), Sunder Armor up to 5 stacks, Spearing Strike, Victory Rush, Heroic Strike with excess Rage. Slam only right after your own swing. On multiple targets: Rend on all of them, Thunder Clap, Sweeping Strikes when Overpower is ready, then Cleave.
Fury (level 30): Overpower, Sunder Armor while the target is above 70% health, Execute, Heroic Strike or Cleave. At 30 you still lack Whirlwind and the main cooldowns. Do not spend Rage on Execute at the end of a fight; save it for the next pack.
Key abilities and levels
| Ability | Level | For | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tactical Mastery | 14 | everyone | 10 Rage kept when switching stances |
| Shield Block, Revenge | 16 (Conquest Capped) | Protection | blocks 2 attacks within 7 s, 5 s cooldown (Icy Veins) |
| Victory Rush | 20 | everyone | attack after a kill, heals 10% health |
| Spearing Strike, Vanguard | 16-point talent (from 25) | Arms, Protection | dismounts the target; Charge in Defensive Stance |
| Berserker Rage | 30 (was 32) | everyone | with Improved Berserker Rage it also removes snares since October 15 |
| Berserker Stance, Intercept | 30, class quest | everyone | third stance and a gap closer |
| Mortal Strike | 31 points, so level 40 | Arms | main Arms attack |
| Bloodthirst | 40 | Fury | strongest Fury attack (Conquest Capped) |
We have not confirmed the levels for Whirlwind, Execute and Shield Wall in Forever.
Stats
- Arms and Fury: Strength first, then Agility (crit). Crit matters more than in Classic because it generates Rage.
- Hit is a new shared stat, also important for Taunt.
- Spirit "matters more than it looks" (Conquest Capped): at low levels 1–2 items with Spirit almost double your out-of-combat health regeneration.
- Protection: defensive stats first, then Strength and Agility. No source gives the exact order.
- Your weapon matters most: most of your damage is still white hits.
Strengths and weaknesses
| Mode | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | Victory Rush, Protection with lots of Rage from blocks, dodges and parries | slowest leveling, the most weapon-dependent class, hard to escape a bad pull |
| Dungeons and raids | Protection is "the safest choice on hard-hitting bosses", Fury brings cleave and burst (Death Wish), plate and high health | gear dependence, Recklessness every 30 min, Rage can still be a problem for tanks |
| PvP | Arms with Mortal Strike and Iron Will; with a healer, according to Conquest Capped, it can "rise to S" | weak without a healer, no defense against magic (no Spell Reflection), last in the Forever Open qualifiers |
Professions
- First Aid on every Warrior: bandages are your main healing.
- Mining and Blacksmithing: Sharpening Stones and Weightstones. Lodestone from Mining does not stack with Blessing of Might; in that case use the Sharpening Wheel from Blacksmithing.
- Herbalism and Alchemy: in the beta, Alchemy to 225 "paid for itself" (Conquest Capped).
- Engineering later: according to Wowhead the strongest for Fury, useful for PvP at 60.
Professions also give Legacy points, but sources disagree on the thresholds: Wowhead says 150 or 250, Conquest Capped says 150, 225 and 300.
First steps
- Up to level 15 play in Battle Stance and take damage talents. From 14 you have Tactical Mastery.
- At level 16 decide: a shield and Protection (safest solo) or stay with a two-hander.
- Do every dungeon quest: their items are stronger in Forever. Wowhead recommends, among others, Tusken Helm (Razorfen Kraul) and Saltscale Girdle from the new Excavation Site: Wetlands dungeon (26–31). More: new dungeons.
- Weapons along the way (Conquest Capped): Cruel Barb (The Deadmines), Wingblade (Horde quest in Wailing Caverns), Ravager (Scarlet Monastery).
- Between 20 and 30 do the armor quest: Horde "Brutal Hauberk", Alliance "Fire Hardened Hauberk".
- At 30 pick up "The Islander" from the trainer in a capital (except Darnassus) and travel to Fray Island in the Barrens. The duel series "The Affray" ends with Big Will (level 33), so bring a Healing Potion. Reward: Berserker Stance and Intercept.
- Around level 38 the "The Windwatcher" chain gives you Whirlwind Axe, Whirlwind Sword or Whirlwind Warhammer. Kill the elite Cyclonian (level 40) with 2–3 players.
Mobs in dungeons now give more experience, while dungeon quests give 50% less bonus XP.
