How talents work in WoW Forever
According to Blizzard, talents become available at level 10, and the talent trees keep the same number of rows as in patch 1.12. Every class has three trees. The remaining rules come from talent calculators and guides, not directly from Blizzard:
- you get 1 talent point per level from level 10, which means 51 points at level 60;
- every 5 points spent in a tree unlock the next row;
- some talents require another talent above them first.
| Level | Talent points | What unlocks | With Talented 5/5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 1 | first point | 6 |
| 20 | 11 | first "gold medal" milestone (11 points) | 16 |
| 25 | 16 | new 16-point milestone | 21 |
| 30 | 21 | 21-point milestone, beta level cap | 26 |
| 40 | 31 | 31-point milestone and Dual Specialization | 36 |
| 60 | 51 | all points | 51 |
We calculated the Talented column from the Warcraft Tavern description. Milestones count points in a single tree: you can take the 21-point talent at level 30 only if every point goes into the same tree.
The beta level cap is 30, which means 21 points. Nobody has spent a 31st point yet, so the 31-point capstones are known only from their descriptions.
Gold medal talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points
Blizzard calls them "gold medal talents": they cost 1 point and sit at the 11, 21 and 31-point milestones as in Classic, plus the new 16-point one. Examples from the official class deep dives ("–": not named by Blizzard):
| Class | Tree | 11 points | 16 points | 21 points | 31 points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Druid | Feral Combat | Feral Charge (also in Cat Form) | Shifting Power (cat) and Primal Bite (bear) | Leader of the Pack | Berserk |
| Hunter | Survival | – | Counterattack | Strider Kick | Lacerating Strikes |
| Mage | Frost | Ice Lance | Ice Block | Cold Snap | – |
| Paladin | Holy | Voice of Truth | Divine Favor | Holy Shock | Light's Vigil |
| Priest | Discipline | – | Soul Warding | Penance | – |
| Rogue | Assassination | – | Cold Blood | Mutilate | Venom |
| Shaman | Enhancement | Shamanistic Focus | Stormstrike | – | Rage of the Farseer |
| Warlock | Demonology | Demonic Sacrifice | Fel Domination | Soul Link | Demonic Pact |
| Warrior | Arms | – | Spearing Strike | – | – |
Some are old talents moved down: Stormstrike went from 31 to 16 points, Holy Shock and Soul Link from 31 to 21. The list is already changing: according to Conquest Capped, in the October 15, 2026 build Lava Burst (Elemental) moved to the 21-point milestone and Elemental Mastery returned at 31.
How the trees differ from Classic
Some talents are exactly as they were in 1.12, some were reworked and some are new. The biggest change is buffs that are no longer talents: Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild are baseline, every priest gets Divine Spirit from level 30, every warrior gets Improved Battle Shout, and every paladin gets Consecration from level 20. You no longer spend points just to give your group a buff.
| Class | Example changes |
|---|---|
| Warrior | weapon specializations (Axe, Mace, Sword, Polearm) replaced by a single Weaponmaster talent; Improved Cleave removed from Fury |
| Rogue | Dagger, Mace, Sword and Fist Weapon Specialization merged into Hack and Slash (with a bonus for axes); Improved Sap replaced by Dirty Tricks |
| Druid | Tiger's Fury replaced by Shifting Power, and Mangle by Primal Bite; Omen of Clarity is baseline |
| Shaman | Elemental Mastery removed on October 7, 2026, back in the October 15 build |
| Warlock | Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom are now Banes (one per target); Dark Pact among the removed talents |
| Mage | nothing removed in Fire and Frost; Magic Attunement is baseline |
According to Conquest Capped, the rebuild makes hybrids and old "meme" builds work: Shockadin, Smite Priest, Shaman tank, Frostfire Mage or Fury tank. Fan sites count about 470 talents in 27 trees, and wow-forever.gg counts 112 new and 77 removed compared with Classic Era.
Respec at the trainer and its cost
You change your talents (including Legacy talents) at your class trainer in one of the capital cities.
- In the beta: since September 24, 2026, a respec costs 1 silver if you have not changed talents recently. The next one is much more expensive, but after an hour the price drops back to 1 silver. This setting is for the beta only.
- After launch: Blizzard is deliberately avoiding very cheap respecs. The price will rise quickly and decline only once per week (Digital Citizen, October 11, 2026).
Blizzard has not given the exact respec price for launch. Do not plan your gold around beta prices.
Dual Specialization at level 40
Dual Specialization, two saved talent sets, unlocks at level 40. Blizzard says it will come at a cost and has no plans to go beyond two specs. Blizzard has not named the amount in its own posts: Warcraft Wiki lists 10 gold, while wow-forever.gg (October 10, 2026) says "Not known yet". Blizzard has also hinted that the unlock level may still change.
Since buffs are baseline, your second set can simply be another role, for example Feral for leveling and Restoration for dungeons.
The Legacy perk "Talented": points earlier
Legacy is an account-wide system: challenges give you Legacy Points that you spend on perks. At launch a character can have at most 16 Legacy points (Warcraft Tavern).
The Talented perk (5 ranks, Adventure tree) gives you talent points earlier: from level 9 at rank 1, down to level 5 at rank 5. The cap stays the same: 51 points. At 5/5 you have 26 points at level 30 instead of 21, but you are not stronger at level 60. Some players on the Blizzard forums ask for the perk to be removed, because in their view it is the only one that really adds power.
The Skyborne have no racial talent
You may read about a "Skyborne racial talent". No such talent exists. In WoW Forever no race has a racial talent tree or a racial talent. Races have racial abilities (racials), which work right away and do not use talent points.
Skyborne racials according to Warcraft Tavern:
- Walk on Air (active): a free, steerable Slow Fall on a 90-second cooldown; druids can use it in forms;
- Wind Blessed (passive): +3% Haste;
- Elemental Insight (passive): +5% damage against Elementals;
- Read Ley Line: High Order (Alliance) only, Energized buff;
- Skysight: Windshaper (Horde) only, Elemental Blessing buff.
Blizzard changed racials in the October 15, 2026 build, so check the values in game. Only priests have their own racial spells, and those are not talents either. More: races and Skyborne.
WoW Forever talent calculators
A talent calculator (or build planner) lets you plan a build before you spend points. All of them use beta data, so check the build number. As of October 18, 2026, in alphabetical order:
