The Druid at a glance: who it is for

The Druid wears leather armor and is the only class with a separate spec for every role: tank, healer, melee DPS and spell DPS. The Paladin can also tank and heal, but it does not fight at range. The Druid changes role by changing form: Bear Form to tank, Cat Form for melee, Moonkin Form for spells.

The price of that flexibility: Blizzard writes that the Druid "will need to rely on others", because it cannot slow enemies, has no Silence or interrupt, and its crowd control (CC) is weaker. This is the class for you if you enjoy switching roles.

Wowhead explains Balance's low rating by its lack of a wand: at these levels, casters mostly wand their way through dungeons. We compare every class in which class to play.

Specs: Balance, Feral Combat and Restoration

SpecRolePlaystyle in Forever
Balancespell DPSWrath, Starfire, Moonfire and Insect Swarm (moved from Restoration); the new Eclipse talent: Wrath shortens your next 2 Starfires; buffs, debuffs and emergency healing; limited by mana more than by talents (Wowhead)
Feral Combat (Cat Form)melee DPSEnergy and combo points: Shred, Rake, Rip; Shifting Power instead of Tiger's Fury; Berserk at 31 points; very mobile (Feral Swiftness, Feral Charge, Dash)
Feral Combat (Bear Form)tankRage, Swipe for groups, Primal Bite instead of Mangle, Lacerate from level 42; the most armor and health of any tank, but no block and fewer cooldowns (Conquest Capped)
Restorationhealerheal over time (HoT): Rejuvenation, Regrowth, Healing Touch; Swiftmend no longer consumes a HoT; Wild Growth at 31 points

According to Wowhead, Feral is the only spec that both tanks and deals damage from the same tree, which makes it an ideal off-tank.

What's new in Forever

The key changes from Blizzard's September 30, 2026 article and the beta notes up to October 15, 2026:

  • Potions in forms: almost all potions and similar consumables work in form and do not cancel it. Druids can drink Rage potions and Thistle Tea. The exception is Engineering bombs, apart from the new SAF-T and EZ-Thro recipes.
  • Weapons in forms: weapon enchants and procs work in forms (sharpening stones, Crusader, Windfury Totem). Auto-attacks in Bear, Cat and Dire Bear Form use the DPS of your equipped weapon. Racials work in forms too, and forms are immune to Disarm.
  • Tiger's Fury removed. It is replaced by the Shifting Power talent (16 points, Cat Form): for 55% of base mana you instantly gain 40 Energy, with a 16 sec cooldown. It does not work at full energy.
  • Mangle is now called Primal Bite (16 points, Bear Form): an attack for 20 Rage, 100% weapon damage plus a bonus and very high threat.
  • Lacerate is a new baseline ability from level 42: a bleed that stacks up to 5 times with high threat.
  • Berserk (31 points, Feral): for 15 sec it removes fear and grants immunity to it, Primal Bite has no cooldown and hits 3 targets, and cat abilities that spend combo points get +100% crit chance. 3 min cooldown.
  • Wild Growth (31 points, Restoration): a heal over time on the chosen player's whole party that weakens every second for 7 sec, with a 6 sec cooldown.
  • Revive: a new out-of-combat resurrection from level 12.
  • Nature's Grasp (from 10) and Omen of Clarity (from 20) are baseline, so you spend no talents on them.
  • October 15, 2026: Moonkin Aura now raises only spell crit, and Leader of the Pack only melee and ranged crit, but both now affect the whole raid.

On top of that, Claw and Shred are much stronger, Frenzied Regeneration can heal 100% of your health, and Wrath is cheaper and since September 24, 2026 deals about 50% more base damage.

The Icy Veins guide (October 12, 2026) and Wowhead's Feral overview (October 7) still describe Tiger's Fury, King of the Jungle and Mangle. Blizzard has removed or renamed them, so do not follow that advice.

Races: Tauren, Night Elf and Skyborne

You can play a Druid as a Night Elf (Alliance), a Tauren (Horde) or a Skyborne on either faction. There are no Troll Druids in Forever, which players regret on Reddit. Skyborne require the paid Skyborne Heroic Pack.

RaceFactionWhat it gives a DruidRecommended by
TaurenHordeWar Stomp (a stun that works in every form), Endurance (+5% health), Plainsrunning (does not stack with Feral Swiftness), Cultivation (herbs without Herbalism)Mobalytics (strongest overall), Wowhead (Feral), Method (PvP and tanking)
Night ElfAllianceElune's Light (+10% crit chance for 15 sec), Shadowmeld, Quickness (+2% speed, a cat in Stealth is harder to spot)Wowhead, Mobalytics, Icy Veins
High Order SkyborneAllianceWalk on Air (gliding, works in form), Wind Blessed (+3% Haste), Read Ley Line (health and mana regeneration, Blizzard: +100%)Method; Mobalytics: good for leveling, Balance and Resto, weak for Feral
Windshaper SkyborneHordeWalk on Air, Wind Blessed, Skysight (+10% run speed)Method (cat in PvE and Balance)

The best Alliance race is disputed: Wowhead and Mobalytics pick the Night Elf (Elune's Light), while Method picks the Skyborne. Method adds that there are no bad choices, and every race is fine for Restoration.

On October 16, 2026, Blizzard changed racials heavily, and the Druid guides were written before that. According to them, Endurance gave +1% hit; today sources list +5% health and disagree on the rest. Current values: races and Skyborne.

Druid leveling and build

For leveling, guides agree on Feral. Method calls it the fastest and most popular choice. The usual path: up to level 10 you fight with spells, from 10 to 20 in Bear Form, from 20 in Cat Form.

A popular Reddit post (October 12, 2026) warns: Balance is still starved for mana, so do not pick it too early. Restoration heals great in dungeons but levels poorly, so collect healing gear and buy Dual Specialization at 40. According to Method, Intellect and Spirit gear is enough for dungeons.

Feral 0/21/0 (Wowhead, Lexolas, October 6, 2026):

  1. Levels 10–14: Ferocity 5/5.
  2. 15–19: Heart of the Wild 5/5.
  3. 20–22: Shredding Attacks 3/3.
  4. 23–24: Sharpened Claws 2/2.
  5. 25: Shifting Power.
  6. 26–27: Blood Frenzy 2/2.
  7. 28–29: Savage Fury 2/2.
  8. 30: Leader of the Pack (or Improved Shifting Power).

Mobalytics (October 9, 2026) takes Heart of the Wild only to 3/5, and instead adds Feral Swiftness 2/2 and Feral Charge for mobility. With the Legacy perk "Talented", Wowhead lists a 0/26/0 version.

Balance 21/0/0 (Wowhead, DrWonder, October 13, 2026): Improved Wrath 5, Moonglow 3, Nature's Majesty 2, Nature's Reach 2, Improved Entangling Roots 3, Improved Starfire 5, Eclipse 1. The alternative is a DoT build (Moonfire and Insect Swarm).

Restoration: Wowhead recommends "Deep Resto" 0/0/21 all the way to Swiftmend and Nature's Swiftness, and "Deep Balance" 21/0/0 for solo questing. How talent thresholds and the Talented perk work: talents.

Rotation in plain words

Up to level 10: Moonfire on the enemy, Rejuvenation on yourself, Wrath while you have mana, then finish with auto-attacks. Mobalytics suggests pulling two enemies at a time.

Bear Form (10–20): Enrage, Demoralizing Roar (skip it against casters), Maul on a single target, Swipe on several. You can open with Moonfire before the fight and heal yourself with Rejuvenation after it.

Cat Form (20–30, Wowhead):

  1. Shifting Power, if you will not waste energy (below 50 Energy, no Clearcasting).
  2. Rip at 4–5 combo points, if the target will live at least 6 more sec.
  3. Rake, if the target will live at least 6 sec.
  4. Faerie Fire.
  5. Shred from behind the target, and Claw when you cannot get behind it.

In dungeons enemies die quickly, so Rip is rarely worth it.

Balance: Wrath, Entangling Roots (keeps the enemy at range), then alternate 2× Starfire and Wrath. Watch your mana.

Restoration (dungeons, Wowhead): Thorns and Rejuvenation on the tank, then Regrowth and low ranks of Healing Touch. In an emergency use Swiftmend, and when the whole group takes damage, Tranquility.

Combo points are disputed: Mobalytics says they carry over between targets, while Method says they do not carry over but are not lost when you switch targets.

Stats

  • Feral (leveling, Mobalytics): Strength > Agility = Stamina > Intellect > Spirit. In Cat Form, Agility gives some Attack Power.
  • Before level 20 (Wowhead): Spell Power is best, because Thorns is a big part of a bear's damage. After that, weapon DPS matters: a strong weapon "makes a big difference".
  • Tank: the Thick Hide talent gives armor from the Defense skill, so the Druid benefits from Defense items like other tanks.
  • Hybrid: since October 8, 2026, the Natural Instinct talent adds 12 or 25% of Intellect to spell healing.

For Balance and Restoration we have not yet found a published stat priority from a reliable source.

Strengths and weaknesses

StrengthsWeaknesses
every role, Feral as an off-tankno slow, Silence or interrupt
great mobility (Cat Form, Travel Form, Feral Charge, Dash)weaker CC; Feral Charge in Cat Form neither interrupts nor roots
self-healing and durability while levelingslow start and average kill speed (Method)
Revive, Rebirth, Mark of the Wild, Thornsthe cat waits for energy and has almost no AoE damage (Wowhead)
bear: the most armor and healthbear: no block, Swipe hits only 3 targets

In PvP, Conquest Capped considers the Druid the best flag carrier in battlegrounds, and Restoration Druid gets an A in its PvP forecast.

Professions

Wowhead ranks Engineering first: the new recipes (Tinkerbox, bombs, parachutes) work in form. Next come Alchemy (Mixology: +25% to elixirs and flasks), Enchanting (enchants on your own rings) and Leatherworking (Armor Kits).

Method recommends the pairs Leatherworking + Skinning, Mining + Engineering or Herbalism + Alchemy.

First steps

  1. Pick your race: Night Elf, Tauren or Skyborne (paid pack).
  2. At level 10, do the Bear Form quest: "Heeding the Call" (Night Elf in Darnassus, Tauren in Thunder Bluff) or "The Great Ursera Spirit" (Skyborne on Zephras Isle).
  3. At level 14, the Cure Poison chain. Method lists "Lessons Anew" to start and "Power over Poison" later (the names are disputed).
  4. At level 16, "A Lesson to Learn" for Aquatic Form; according to 04AM the quest takes you to Moonglade.
  5. At level 20, the cat quest: "The Great Cat Spirit" (Night Elf, Tauren) or "The Great Windborne Cat Spirit" (Skyborne).
  6. Equip the best weapon you have. Attacks in forms scale with your weapon, and Druids can also use polearms.

Before you start, compare the Druid with other classes in our tier lists.
