Skill tree and skill points in Enshrouded 1.0

Updated: 7 min read

The 212 figure comes from a fan's analysis of the game files, not from Keen Games. Pindrop and enshroudedbuilds.org back it up independently and the math checks out, but there is no official statement. The skill costs below come from a Hack the Minotaur guide dated October 14, 2026, before launch, so the game may differ by a point. Always trust the price shown on the node.

How many skill points there are

At most 212 skill points at level 50 with full exploration. More than half (114) comes from walking the map, not from leveling.

SourceHow manyPoints
Levels 2 to 5049 levels at 2 points98
Shroud Root60 at 1 point60
Elixir Well18 at 3 points54
Total212

A Reddit example: at level 10, with every Shroud Root in the Springlands cleared, you have 35 points (18 from levels and 17 from the biome). In 1.0 your first level-up comes when you place your first Flame Altar and the second when you free the Blacksmith. The level cap is 50.

The whole tree costs 675 points; the Mage area alone costs 224 and Ranger 215. One full area already exceeds your budget. That is why Reddit's advice is one main branch plus at most one neighbor, since spreading points thin is the most common mistake.

One Reddit player recalled a maximum of 184 points before 1.0, but that is a memory, not a source. There is no confirmation that the new Hollow Halls give points: the game-file analysis lists only Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells.

Points by biome

The split from the Steam thread (the totals add up: 17 + 20 + 15 + 20 + 15 + 15 + 12 = 114):

If you rushed the story, check your map for skipped Roots and Wells. Our map and biomes guide helps you cover every biome, and how to level up fast covers the XP side.

Respec and its cost

  • Where: at a Flame Altar.
  • How much: 1 Rune per spent point. A full respec of 212 points costs 212 Runes. Swapping one 3-point node out and back costs 6 Runes.
  • A respec does not need a new game. Players say respeccing is cheap.

A note on the source: the cost comes from the wiki.gg page (pre-1.0) and Pindrop. We did not find it in the official 1.0 changelog.

An Early Access save gets its skill tree reset on the first load in 1.0. Spend your points again, and do not leave your base with unspent points (advice players attribute to Keen itself). More on migration: saves and your character after 1.0.

Skill tree branches

The tree has a Center and 12 branches in three colors. Names stay as they appear in the game.

ColorBranchesKey skills
CenterCenter SkillsDouble Jump, Merciless Attack, Saviour, Airborne Architect, Mason, Miner, Lumberjack
Red (melee)Guardian/Tank, Warrior, Barbarian, AthleteHeavy Plates, Earth Aura, One-Handed Specialization, Battle Heal, Two-Handed Specialization, Whirlwind Crescendo, Crash Down Attack
Blue (magic)Trickster, Wizard, Healer, BattlemageQuick Charge, Blast and Cast, Totem Mastery, Advanced Necromancy, Water Aura, Blink, Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Mastery
Green (ranged and survival)Assassin, Ranger, Beastmaster, SurvivorSneak Attack, Updraft, Puncture, Barrage, Multi Shot, Survival Instinct, Dessert Stomach

Bridge nodes sit between branches, for example Healer/Battlemage (home of Blink) or Assassin/Trickster (home of Updraft). Sources name the defensive branch differently: the wiki and our older texts say Tank, Hack the Minotaur says "Guardian (Tank)". We do not settle what it is called in the game.

1.0 added eight new skills: Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct. Dagger skills moved to the Assassin tree and many skill costs were reduced. For skill orders per build see the builds overview, the mage build and the build tier list. Combat changes are in combat and class changes, and choosing a branch is covered in which class to pick.

What to take first

These are creators' opinions, not game data. They agree on three picks: Double Jump, Updraft and Water Aura.

SkillWhereCost (Hack the Minotaur)Why
Double JumpCenter2movement and exploration, on both creators' lists
UpdraftAssassin/Trickster4 (each use costs 100 mana)a lift, on both creators' lists
Water AuraHealersee the nodehealing, 5 m range per level (up to 15 m); PhiMcRee calls it the "number one lifesaver" solo
BlinkHealer/Battlemage4a short teleport; Shamz recommends it and Hack the Minotaur lists it among shared build skills
Dessert StomachSurvivor4an extra food slot (PhiMcRee)
MasonCentersee the node3 levels of 10%, so 30% more tool damage on stone (Shamz)
Merciless AttackCenter2+500% damage against a stunned enemy
Sneak AttackAssassin3+900% from stealth

Shamz (video of October 15, 2026) names seven skills: Double Jump, Updraft, Water Aura, Blink, Mason, Sneak Attack and Merciless Attack. PhiMcRee (October 17, 2026) picks four for solo play: Double Jump, Updraft, Dessert Stomach and Water Aura. Sneak Attack has a huge multiplier, but tier lists consistently rank stealth low because it is hard to use on groups and bosses.

Airborne Architect: flying while building costs 3 points

A new skill in the Center of the tree lets you build in a free-flying mode (in build mode you toggle it with Tab). It costs 3 points. Players argue about whether that is fair: critics say it is a comfort feature rather than a combat one and call it a tax on convenience. Defenders answer that it is 3 out of 212 points. The workaround players describe is to unlock it for a build session and then reset those 3 points (about 6 Runes in total, according to one Steam player). We found no official reaction from Keen Games. Building itself is covered in our building tips.

Skill tree planners

Three planners with addresses (read October 22, 2026):

  • https://pindrop.gg/enshrouded/skill-tree: shows the respec cost and converts links from older planners.
  • https://enshroudedbuilds.org/skill-planner/: a budget by level and discovered biomes, plus ready-made builds.
  • https://www.enshrouded-skill-tree.com/: the best known, but we could not confirm it is fully updated for 1.0.

Planners report different node counts: Pindrop 243, enshroudedbuilds.org 231. The sites count in their own way and we cannot settle it. Attribute values (for example how much stamina a point of Endurance gives) also differ between creators, so check them in the game.

FAQ

How many skill points are there in Enshrouded 1.0?

At most 212: 98 from levels 2 to 50 and 114 from exploration. This figure comes from an analysis of the game files, not from a Keen Games announcement.

Can I buy the whole skill tree?

No. The whole tree costs 675 points and you will earn at most 212, about one third.

How much does a respec cost?

1 Rune per spent point, at a Flame Altar. A full respec of 212 points costs 212 Runes.

Does Airborne Architect really cost points?

Yes, 3 points in the Center of the tree. Many players unlock it only for a build session.

Which skills should I take first?

The most recommended are Double Jump, Updraft and Water Aura, followed by Blink, Dessert Stomach, Mason and Merciless Attack. The right pick depends on your build, so also check the builds overview.
