WARDOGS Season 2: what's new

Updated: 7 min read

Season 2 launch

On October 15, 2026 the servers were down from 08:00 to 09:30 UTC. Shortly before 10:00 UTC the studio announced that Season 2 was live as Update 0.2.0. It is a regular Steam update, so you pay nothing extra.

All prices and levels below come from the official patch notes of October 14 (as of Season 2).

New weapons

WeaponType, caliberUnlock (path, level, cost)Vendor price
PP-19 BizonSMG, 9x19mmMedic, from the start$1,000
TCX-SPRAssault Rifle, 7.62x39mmAssault LVL 20, $100,000$3,200
Evo-3 UltraLMG, .308 WinSupport LVL 30, $200,000$7,250
M14Marksman Rifle, .308 WinRecon LVL 25, $100,000$7,400

In the October 9 preview the TCX-SPR was called the "TCX Spear". The new guns come with new attachments, including suppressors, muzzle brakes and bipods (Evolys Bipod, M14 Bipod), plus the PU 91/30 Scope for the Mosin.

New vehicles

VehicleRoleUnlock (Driver)Purchase price
Wolf-110fast, light wheeled transportLVL 8, $50,000$2,200
Wolf-110 [M2 Browning]Wolf-110 with a turret-mounted M2 BrowningLVL 16, $125,000$7,800
Flakpanzer GepardAnti Air VehicleLVL 25, $300,000$14,000
T-72B3main battle tankLVL 20, $250,000$16,000

The T-72B3 is slower than the L2A6 but cheaper and slightly more fuel-efficient. The preview called it "far more fuel-efficient", the patch notes only say "slightly". The SPH-2 self-propelled gun moved to the Driver path (LVL 31), and its unlock cost dropped from $500,000 to $350,000. More on artillery: mortar and artillery.

Molotov, range finder and structures

  • Molotov: Assault LVL 13 ($25,000), price $340. You can throw it overhand or underhand. It deals impact damage and then fire damage over time, burns foliage, and rain weakens the flames.
  • Infrared Range Finder now runs on a battery: about 80 seconds of active use. Its price went up from $1,200 to $3,200.
  • New structures: MG Nest (manned M2 Browning position, large hammer, 650 supplies), Large Shelter (large metal shelter, 250 supplies) and Wooden Step.

Many structures got more expensive, for example the L81 Mortar from 150 to 600 supplies and doors from 22 to 80. Doors and gates can no longer be forced with a hammer, only with the Halligan bar. Details: building and FOB guide.

Rain

The new weather preset is rain. Surfaces, vehicles and characters get wet, and the sound of rain depends on whether you are under a roof, inside a building, in a vehicle or out in the open. Destroy a roof and the rain falls inside.

Heavier rain brings thunder. Everyone on the server hears the same thunderclap at the same moment and from the same direction, and it is loud enough to mask footsteps. Rain also reduces spotting range.

The weather is not dynamic. Joe Brammer (CEO) told IGN that dynamic weather is held back partly by the limits of the Xbox Series S, because the studio is already planning for consoles.

Wager Vendor: betting your cash

It is not available at launch. It will open later in Season 2 and will come and go rather than stay permanently. How it works, according to the preview:

  1. You pick objectives, for example a number of kills in the Hot Zone or transporting a number of players.
  2. You set how many deaths you can "spend" on completing them.
  3. You stake your own cash. The more objectives in one bet, the bigger the payout.

It is optional and experimental. The studio warns it may pull the feature during the season if it turns out to be too exploitable.

Faster XP, pricier vehicles

According to the studio, reaching level 20 now takes less than half the playtime it did in Season 1. Total XP needed on a role path:

LevelSeason 1Season 2
1035,000 XP25,000 XP
15110,000 XP54,750 XP
20250,000 XP111,500 XP

Level 50 now takes a total of 1,150,000 XP. The unlock order changed too: for example, the AK74 is available from the start, and the Little Bird AH-6M [Miniguns] moved from Pilot LVL 4 to LVL 8. Full lists: classes and leveling and helicopters.

Vendor price changeSeason 1Season 2
L2A6$14,000$22,000
Havoc$18,000$28,000
Little Bird AH-6R [Rockets]$12,500$18,800
Level 4 Armor$4,000$5,000
Level 4 Helmet$3,000$4,500
Basic Parachute$100$500
AK74$1,600$800

Other important changes:

  • Calibers deal less damage: .308 Winchester −25%, 7.62x54mmR −20%, 7.62x39mm −19%, .50 Cal −16% (vehicle weapons too).
  • Level 3 armor reduces damage by 50% (was 55%), Level 4 by 60% (was 65%).
  • A kill with an assault-archetype weapon pays $2,000 (was $1,500). Logistics has lower base rewards but bonuses for delivery streaks.
  • Spotting pays about 30% less than in Season 1.
  • A team that is at least 40 points behind second place gets a 20% vendor discount.

The wipe: what was reset and what stays

The Season 2 patch notes do not describe the reset directly. The studio confirmed it in a statement to PCGamesN (October 17): some players reached tier-four armor and tanks within days, so "the wipe never really landed". The list below comes from media and fan sites, not from an official text:

ResetKeptUnclear
WARDOG level and all 6 role pathsGold BarsVault items
cash (leftovers converted to Gold Bars)Gold Market cosmeticsTwitch drops
level-based unlocksBlack & Gold AK for those who bought it in Season 1Supporter Pack (it is DLC, but the studio has not answered)

On October 17 the studio announced there will be no second reset this weekend, as that would be unfair on players already enjoying the climb.

The October 15 hotfix

Season 2 gave the Lonestar (blue) team a cash and XP bonus to even out its chances. According to Brammer it was 5% cash and 2.5% XP. It backfired: the best players switched to blue, and blue started winning by far the most. Rock Paper Shotgun describes players leaving servers when the blue team was full.

Later the same day (around 20:58 UTC) the studio announced a backend update:

  • removal of the Lonestar cash and XP bonus,
  • Driver progression fixes,
  • a fix for the Driver exploit that let many players unlock tanks too early,
  • Limited Mode servers announced (no power weapons and vehicles).

For extreme abuse of the exploit the studio handed out 24-hour bans, to fewer than a thousand people according to PCGamesN. Brammer admitted in a video: "We were wrong". The moved spawns on the Bakurani map are staying.

Controversy

Steam reviews: 1,838 positive and 1,102 negative on October 15, then 821 positive and 1,099 negative on October 16. The rating for the last 30 days fell to "Mixed" (66%).

The second dispute is about pacing. On October 17 the studio wrote: "We sped up progression deliberately… but it was the wrong call". Some players welcome faster leveling, others complain that after three days T-72s and Havocs dominate. Brammer says you cannot balance a game for influencers who play all the time and for dads coming home from work at the same time.

What comes next

  • Limited Mode servers in a mid-season update (PCGamesN: 0.25): no Level 4 armor, no power weapons and no vehicles like tanks and artillery. They will replace the low-level servers. No date yet.
  • Wager Vendor later in Season 2.
  • Steam Trading Cards and Point Shop once Valve approves them.
  • Season 3: the studio is considering bringing it "significantly" forward so everyone gets a proper fresh start. The plan will be shown in a dev vlog next week.

Season 2's length has not been announced. Season 1 lasted about 5 weeks (September 10 to October 15, 2026). Price, platforms and requirements: everything about the game.
