Hellraiser: Revival on YouTube and Twitch — what you can record and stream

Updated: 2 min read

What happened

  • The French YouTuber and streamer j0nathan (about 190 thousand subscribers, around 3 thousand videos) posted a recording of the opening scenes of Hellraiser: Revival with the nudity covered. His channel was permanently banned.
  • YouTube rejected his appeal, citing the rule that "explicit content that's meant to be sexually gratifying isn't allowed on YouTube". According to reports, after more than a day he had received nothing but automated replies.
  • The first reports came from IGN (October 9, 2026); Destructoid, Kotaku and Insider Gaming, among others, repeated them. We have no official YouTube statement on the case, and it is not settled — the reports describe the creator's side.
  • The publisher, Saber Interactive, recommended that creators label videos with an appropriate age restriction and sexual-content tags. j0nathan says that after the ban neither other creators nor Saber replied to his requests for help.

Why this concerns this particular game

The game is rated Mature 17+ and — according to the Steam description — contains, among other things, nudity, non-explicit sex scenes, torture, gore and narrative themes of suicide and domestic abuse. Saber Interactive confirmed that no version of the game is censored, including Nintendo Switch 2. The most explicit scenes come right at the start — in the prologue.

Can you stream on Twitch

We found no official Twitch statement about this game, so we cannot say it is safe or banned. Industry guides (GameTrek, among others) advise treating it as material that breaks YouTube and Twitch rules if shown without safeguards. That is an opinion, not a Twitch decision.

How to reduce the risk

Compiled from the reports and guides — none of these steps is a guarantee:

  1. Mark the video or stream as mature (age restriction / mature-content label) — the publisher asks for this too. It applies even to unlisted and private videos: on YouTube the rules apply there as well.
  2. Skip or cut the start of the game and the erotic scenes. For j0nathan, covering the nudity with a black box was not enough.
  3. Mute the audio during sexual scenes — audio alone can also be grounds for a ban.
  4. Consider a version of the video without those scenes and have a fallback plan: a backup of your material and an alternative channel.
  5. Follow platform announcements — they may change how they treat this game.

If your channel is a source of income, the safest thing is to ask the platform's support directly whether specific scenes comply with its rules before you publish. This text is not legal advice.
