Hellraiser: Revival — everything you need to know after launch

Updated: 4 min read

What the game is

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival is a first-person survival horror game from Saber Interactive (listed on Steam as both developer and publisher). It tells a new story in the "Hellraiser" universe: you play Aidan, who uses the Genesis Configuration puzzle box to try to rescue his girlfriend Sunny from a hellish labyrinth. In his way stand the Cenobites led by Pinhead, played again by Doug Bradley from the films, and the Scarlet Church cult.

Players compare the gameplay to first-person "Resident Evil": melee and firearm combat, crafting, weapon upgrades, inventory management, a vendor and lockpicking. The box grants extra abilities — telekinesis, fire control and Hell Chains. The game is single-player only.

The developer recommends an SSD. In player reviews the game is praised for its optimization, which is unusual for an Unreal Engine 5 title.

Platforms, Switch 2 and Steam Deck

  • The game launched on October 8, 2026 on PC (Windows only, Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • According to a Saber Interactive statement from September 23, 2026, the Switch 2 version has the same content as the others — no censorship.
  • Steam Deck: as of October 11, 2026 Valve has not given the game any compatibility rating ("unknown"). Players publish their own performance tests, but that is not an official status.

How long it takes and difficulty levels

  • Previews talked about 7–10 hours. After launch, players usually report 8–12 hours (8 h on Normal, about 11 h on Hard), and GameTrek estimates 10–14 hours. No confirmed mode requires a second playthrough: both endings can be seen in a single run (endings).
  • There are four difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Hard and Hellraiser. Higher levels change the number of enemies, the supplies and the saving system: Normal has autosave, Hard has limited save spots and no autosave, and Hellraiser saves with a limited number of save tokens and can only be chosen in a new game.
  • You can change difficulty during a run (except Hellraiser mode). The options menu also has separate settings: aim assist, death hints, highlighting of interactive objects and a boss health bar.

Is it available in Polish

No. Steam lists these languages: English (with full voice-over), French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Portuguese (Brazil) — in these seven, subtitles and interface only. There is no Polish and no Turkish. We have not checked whether a fan translation is in the works, so we do not promise one.

Who it is for and what to expect

The game is rated Mature 17+ (ESRB). Steam describes its content as: strong violence and gore, torture, "consensual mutilation", alcohol and drug abuse, strong language and non-explicit consensual sex; the story also touches on suicide, domestic abuse, BDSM practices and addiction. The first scenes of the game are the most explicit — those are what cause trouble when recording and streaming: what you can record and stream.

Opinions after launch

  • On Steam on October 11, 2026: 3,124 reviews, 2,951 positive (94%) — "Very Positive". Praised: an atmosphere faithful to the films, the art direction, the voices of the Cenobites and optimization.
  • The most common complaints in reviews: puzzles late in the game (especially the Leviathan puzzle), a weak ammo economy, weak stealth, the erotic content and gore tapering off after the prologue, and endings that some players find disappointing.
  • On the day of checking, about 8.9 thousand people were playing at the same time on Steam. On Twitch the October average was about 13 thousand viewers, nearly 6 thousand percent more than a month earlier (TwitchTracker, Oct 10, 2026).
