These are four builds by different creators, not our own tests. We collected them and compare them, and for each one we say who wrote it and when. No source has a bow damage table for version 1.0, so we don't rank bows by damage. Treat numbers from pre-1.0 sites as estimates.
Four archer builds at a glance
| Build | Who and when | Style | Bow | Strongest side | Weakest side |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Archer | Hack the Minotaur, October 21, 2026 | pure Ranger, explosive arrows | Firefeather Bow | damage and survivability in the endgame | single-use arrows, slow start |
| Stealth Archer | Mobalytics by ItalianSpartacus, October 18, 2026 | bow plus dual daggers | no specific name | backstabs, arrow fans | fragile in melee |
| Assassin | Hack the Minotaur, October 14, 2026 | mostly daggers, bow as a side weapon | Avalanche Starter | crits, one attribute | weak healing |
| Magic Archer | player medievalmarty (YouTube), around October 20, 2026 | bow and mana from Eternal Frost Arrow | Winged Shadow | mana from Eternal arrows | shown only for early to mid game |
All of them rely on Dexterity. To compare them with builds for other weapons, see the build tier list and the builds overview.
Build 1: Ultimate Archer (Ranger with the Firefeather Bow)
Who it's for: solo and in a group; the author says it "excels solo or in a group". Hack the Minotaur claims that at character level 50 and gear level 55 the archer has the best mix of damage and survivability in the game. That is the creator's opinion. In his video ranking seven builds, the archer is in second place, behind the two-handed Barbarian.
Weapons and attributes: the Firefeather Bow (fire, health leech, crit chance), plus the Torchlight Staff for healing, the Candlelight Wand for mana, Grey Blades daggers and the Incredible Ward shield. Attributes: Dexterity, then Constitution, then Intelligence. Sportskeeda agrees on the Firefeather Bow and adds the Ignited Bow as a safe option.
Armor:
| Slot | Item | Where from |
|---|---|---|
| Head, hands, legs, boots | Ashwind Strider | crafted by the Hunter, Cinder's Cradle |
| Chest | Vorgoth's Soulbound Chest (+10% bow damage, +210 Health, +84 Stamina) | crafted by the Ancient Researcher after the final boss |
| Rings | Commander's Ring and Ring of the Ancients | Fell Wispwyvern boss and a chest |
Sets have no full-set bonus, so mixing pieces pays off.
Skills from the Skill Tree, in HTM's order:
| Stage | Skills | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| Early game | Double Jump, Marksman, Sniper, Vitality Surge, Bow Specialization, Ranger | bow damage and crits, a special attack once you build up Focus |
| Early game | Blink, Emergency Blink, Water Aura (Healer branch) | dodge and healing |
| Early game | Updraft, Graceful Stride (Assassin), Multi Shot (Ranger) | shooting in the air, an arrow fan |
| Mid game | Dessert Stomach (Survivor), Mana Currents, Quick Charge (Trickster) | a fourth food slot, mana |
| Late game | Shell Shock (Assassin), Blessed Arrows, Skill Shot, Multi Shot Spread and Trigger | stunning, mana, special arrows in the fan |
| Late game | Shrapnel Blast, Echoing Explosives, Fatal Precision, Puncture, Bee Sting, Eagle's Bane | explosions and crits |
| Late game | Earth Aura, Warden, Tower (Guardian) | three stacking damage reductions, take all of them solo |
Echoing Explosives, Shrapnel Blast and Shell Shock require Explosive Arrows and sit late in the tree. More about the nodes is in the skill tree guide.
Arrows and gem: Shroud Arrow (damage over time), Explosive Arrow, Stun Arrow, Eternal Ember Arrow III (costs mana) and Flare Arrow. The Gem of Burning fits explosive arrows best. Stun arrows are essential against the Fell Dragon.
Progression: up to around level 20, collect Marksman, Sniper, Bow Specialization and Blink. In the mid game you add the fourth food slot and mana. Save explosive arrows for hard fights and bosses, and gather the full Cinder's Cradle set at the end.
Weak sides according to HTM: arrows are single-use, so there is a lot of crafting, the start is slow, stamina can be a problem, and the archer struggles in tight dungeons and when surrounded by a group.
Build 2: Stealth Archer (bow and dual daggers)
Who: Mobalytics, updated October 18, 2026, build credited to ItalianSpartacus. The idea: ranged damage plus dagger backstabs.
- From the Ranger branch: Bow Specialization, Multi Shot (20% chance of an arrow fan on normal arrows), Bee Sting (shooting in the air slows your fall), Multi Shot Trigger (the fan also works for special arrows).
- From the Assassin branch: Backstab Mastery, Sneak Attack, Strategic Maneuver (with a locked-on enemy, a dodge becomes a sideways roll), Kick.
- The rule: pick an enemy that hasn't noticed you, open with an arrow in the back or a Sneak Attack, then open some distance and jump with Bee Sting. A bow doesn't trigger Sneak Attack, but an arrow from behind still counts as a backstab.
- Mana variant: less Assassin, more Eternal arrows, Blink instead of the dodge and a summoned skeleton from the Necromancer skill. Eternal arrows and spells share one mana pool.
Mobalytics gives no bow or armor set names. The author of the source video warns that the build "is not the most durable" and that he took heavy damage in melee. He recommends Blink as an add-on.
Build 3: Assassin (daggers first, bow on the side)
Who: Hack the Minotaur, version from October 14, 2026. Daggers and bow both scale with Dexterity, so they make sense in one build.
- Core: Dagger Mastery, Expose Weakness, Backstab Mastery and Slice and Dice (after a dagger crit, a quick swap to the bow gives +50% on the next bow attack).
- Survival: Battle Heal from the Warrior branch (5% of max health per melee crit).
- Gear: Solstice Daggers from Cinder's Cradle, the Avalanche Starter bow (ice, Precise, Headseeker), Sky Specter armor from the Hunter.
- Weak spot: passive healing; the build leans on potions and Battle Heal.
Players say stealth in the game is mediocre. One comment: "This game does sneaking pretty bad, you can play without it".
Build 4: Magic Archer (player medievalmarty)
Who: the author of the video "Enshrouded Magic Archer Build", around October 20, 2026, version 1.0. This is a player's opinion. A full Ranger set, no wand or staff, and mana comes from the Eternal Frost Arrow.
- Early tree: Bow Specialization, Skill Shot, Marksman and Sniper, then Bee Sting ("Legolas slow fall", take it early), Ranger and Multi Shot.
- Mana: Blessed Arrows at full ranks as soon as possible (crits return mana) and Mana Currents.
- Survival: Water Aura, Blink and Emergency Blink.
- Bow: the player admits it's hard to recommend a specific one because it's down to loot luck. He uses the Winged Shadow.
The weakness of this version: the video shows only the early and mid game, with no endgame.
The best bow in 1.0
There is no bow damage table for 1.0, so we won't name a winner by numbers. Here is what the sources say:
| Bow | Who recommends it | Traits | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefeather Bow | HTM, Sportskeeda | fire, health leech, crit | endgame, HTM gives no location |
| Ignited Bow | KeenGamer, Sportskeeda | magic fire, Precise, Reaping | a safe pick, recommended before 1.0 too |
| Avalanche Starter | HTM (Assassin) | ice, Precise, Headseeker | Albaneve Summits |
| Talion's Bow | PinDrop, HTM | early, shock, health leech | older data, craftable |
| Winged Shadow | player medievalmarty | shadow, Precise, Headseeker | early game |
In 1.0 the best endgame bows drop from bosses and golden chests, because according to HTM "You cannot craft end game bows". The best ones are at level 50 in Cinder's Cradle. Upgrade a bow only once it is legendary and at maximum quality. The August 2026 bow ranking (Ignited Bow, Drak Whistle Bow, Talion's Bow) predates 1.0, and the "Power" numbers from PinDrop come from a wiki that hasn't been updated, which the author himself calls an estimate. You can compare bows with other weapons in the weapons and armor guide.
Do bows get stronger later?
Yes, according to players in the Steam thread from October 16, 2026, but nobody gave numbers. The thread author, at level 7, found that his daggers did more damage than a bow with the best arrows. The replies:
- Sid: bows "explode in power" from the level 10 biome.
- DeLindsay: it's not that the bow gets crazy, it's that weapon, ammo and skill tree start to work together.
- Brokkoli-Bube: the difference comes from shooting in the air while dodging, explosive arrows, arrow fans and stunning with explosives.
- Rufert: explosive arrows are cheap and available early, destroy a Shroud Root in a few hits, even with no points in bow skills.
The takeaway: until you have Bow Specialization, Multi Shot and explosive arrows, a bow feels weak. If you don't want to specialize right away, some players suggest swapping between bow, melee and magic.
Arrows in 1.0
Keen Games rebalanced the cost and effectiveness of arrows and added eternal ember arrows and eternal voltaic arrows. Eternal arrows and Eternal spells can be upgraded like weapons. The amount of ectoplasm in charge recipes was also reduced. Stun arrows and shock damage work "significantly better" on the boss in Albaneve Summits. Hotfix 1.0.0.3 from October 21, 2026 changes neither bows nor arrows.
Arrow crafting is the archer's biggest drawback, and Eternal arrows cost mana instead of supplies. One player writes that plain wooden arrows are enough for about 95% of enemies.
Bow on a gamepad (PS5)
Keen Games added separate gamepad aim assist settings in 1.0 ("aim snap assist", "stick aim assist") and separate target selection rules for ranged weapons. PS5 players also say it's worth turning off motion controls if they get in the way of aiming.
