Enshrouded server hosting: 12 providers compared for version 1.0

How to read this comparison

We checked everything on the providers' websites on October 15, 2026 — the day version 1.0 launched. Prices are shown in the currency each site displayed (dollars, euros, pounds) and we don't convert them — exchange rates and tax depend on the country you order from. Most providers don't say whether VAT is included; only ZAP-Hosting and 4Netplayers state it explicitly. ZAP-Hosting and G-Portal also change the currency and price by country — we saw European prices.

Providers are listed alphabetically. The order does not depend on whether we work with any of them — affiliate links are marked. The offer on the provider's website is always what counts.

All of these companies rent the same official dedicated server from Keen Games — the gameplay is identical. What differs is price, RAM, location, control panel and refund terms. If you'd rather run a server for free on your own PC, see our dedicated server guide.

ZAP-Hosting€3.27 — 4 players, 2 GB RAM (incl. VAT)€13.06 — 2 GB RAM (incl. VAT)6 months −20%, 5 years −50%

Notes on prices:

  • Pingperfect shows prices with the −20% first-month discount already applied and doesn't display the regular price (it works out to about $44 for 16 players, but we didn't confirm that in the cart).
  • BisectHosting and Apex Hosting sell RAM, not slots — the server still holds at most 16 players, because that's the game's limit.
  • G-Portal and ZAP-Hosting change currency and price by country. From a US address, G-Portal shows e.g. $28 for 16 players (Dallas server).

How much RAM the server really needs

According to Keen Games' FAQ, the server alone uses about 4.4 GB of RAM with no players, each player adds up to 100 MB, and the total shouldn't exceed 6 GB. That means:

  • Plans with 2 GB of RAM (ZAP-Hosting's base price) are too small — ZAP itself recommends at least 6 GB, and extra memory raises the price.
  • 4–5 GB (Shockbyte Ember, BisectHosting 4 GB, GTXGaming) is enough for a smaller group, but can get tight on a full server.
  • For 16 players, providers themselves recommend 8 GB (GTXGaming, Shockbyte Flame Altar) or more (Host Havoc: 16 GB "suggested for 16 slots").

So when comparing prices, look at the RAM in the plan, not just the slot count.

Locations

The closer the server, the lower your latency (ping). European and other locations listed by each provider:

ProviderEuropeElsewhere
4NetplayersFrankfurt, Warsaw, Madrid, Paris, Helsinki, London (switch at any time)San Jose, Washington D.C., Dallas, St. Louis, São Paulo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney

For a co-op game, a server in the same region as your group is plenty — tens of milliseconds of ping don't matter much in Enshrouded.

Mods, backups and version 1.0

Enshrouded has no official mod support and no Steam Workshop. Mods run through the unofficial Enshrouded Mod Loader (EML).

"Doesn't mention 1.0" doesn't mean the server won't be updated — all of these providers advertise automatic updates. The server has to run the same version as the game, so after launch check in your panel that it has updated. Before loading your world on 1.0 for the first time, make a backup — 1.0 changes the save format and converts an old world the first time it's loaded (more on saves after 1.0).

PS5 servers

Only Survival Servers offers a server for PlayStation 5 — a separate "Enshrouded PS5" server, on pre-order on launch day, requiring PS Plus (8 or 16 slots; the site didn't show PS5 pricing). The other 11 providers rent PC (Steam) servers only.

Keen Games didn't mention rentable PS5 servers in its official pre-launch announcements. There is no crossplay in 1.0 — PS5 players can't join a PC server and vice versa ("Enshrouded will not be cross-platform at launch"). More in our guide to Enshrouded on PS5 and Xbox.

Which provider to pick — a few typical cases

  • Your group plays in Central/Eastern Europe: providers with a server in Poland — 4Netplayers (Warsaw, tax-inclusive prices, 14 days to withdraw), Shockbyte or BisectHosting (if there's capacity).
  • Cheapest full 16-player server with sensible RAM: GTXGaming (£14.49, 5 GB), Nitrado (£15.13), 4Netplayers (€16.19), Shockbyte ($18.99, 8 GB). ZAP-Hosting is only cheaper with 2 GB of RAM.
  • You want to try before paying: Indifferent Broccoli (2 days, no card) or Pingperfect (48 hours).
  • You want mods: G-Portal or BisectHosting — both mention Enshrouded Mod Loader explicitly.
  • You play on PS5: the only offer is Survival Servers (pre-order); the alternative is a game hosted by one of the players (up to 8 people online with PS Plus).
  • You prefer the developers' partner: G-Portal — Keen Games calls it its official partner, and you can rent a server from inside the game too.

FAQ

Is a rented server different from hosting my own?

Not in gameplay — it's the same official server from Keen Games. You pay for it running 24/7 on someone else's hardware, with the provider handling updates, backups and DDoS protection.

Do I have to rent a server to play with friends?

No. One player can host their world (up to 16 people on PC), but then the world is only online while the host is playing. You can also run a dedicated server for free on your own Windows PC — see the dedicated server guide.

Can I move my world to a rented server?

Most providers let you upload save files through a file manager or FTP (4Netplayers, for example, has a separate "Savegame upload" feature). Keen Games doesn't publish official transfer instructions — always back up your save first.

Does my character stay on the server?

No. The server only stores the world; your character (level, skills, inventory) stays with each player and moves with them to other servers.

How many players fit on a server?

16 at most — that's the game's limit, no matter how much RAM you buy.
