What the stores say: proof there is no split screen
Keen Games has never announced local co-op, and the official store pages do not list it. We checked them on October 22, 2026, after the 1.0 launch.

The Steam description says you can walk the path alone or in co-op with up to 16 players. On PS5, online play requires a PS Plus subscription, and the offline player count is 1. The press release from October 14, 2026 lists only "co-op with up to 16 players on PC and 8 players on PlayStation 5", with no word about playing on one screen. In its older FAQ, the studio calls Enshrouded a "co-op online multiplayer game".
The same rule applies to PC and PS5. If you are searching for "ps5 split screen" or "couch coop" (playing on the sofa with one console), the answer is the same: the game does not have it.
Will split screen come in the future?
Nobody knows. We found no official statement from Keen Games about split screen after October 15, 2026: no announcement and no denial. The 1.0 changelog does not mention it either. The only platform expansions the studio talks about publicly are a version for Xbox Series X|S (aimed at spring 2027) and work on crossplay. How to play together in one home
The only route the game supports is separate devices.
- Each person has their own device (a PC or a PS5) and their own copy of the game.
- One person hosts a world, and the others join through the Join menu or an invitation. On PC you can play with up to 16 people, on PS5 with up to 8.
- On PS5, every player needs their own PS Plus account, because online play is behind the subscription.
- If the world should keep running when the host is away, set up a dedicated server.

We could not confirm whether two PS5 consoles on one home network connect directly or through PlayStation servers. We also did not check whether Steam Family Sharing lets two accounts play co-op at the same time. We do not state either as fact.
PC-PS5 crossplay: not yet either
If one person plays on PC and the other on PS5, you cannot join each other. The Launch FAQ from October 13, 2026 says: "Enshrouded will not be cross-platform at launch". The studio is working on crossplay but has "no current estimate" of how long it will take. Media (Pixel Herald, October 19, 2026) add that characters and bases do not transfer from PC to PS5 either. In practice, everyone in one home has to play on the same platform.
Remote Play Together: is it a workaround?
Probably not. Steam Remote Play Together is for playing games with local multiplayer online, as if you were sitting at one computer. Enshrouded has no local or split screen category in the store, so there is nothing for it to attach to. This is our conclusion from Valve's description and the store data, not a test in the game. At most you could share a keyboard and mouse to control one character, and that will not add a second character to the world.
Plain Remote Play (without Together) streams the game to another screen, such as a TV or a Steam Deck, but still only one person plays. For PS5, we found no source saying that Share Play adds a second player in Enshrouded. Do not assume it will work.
