Path of Exile 1 boss list: endgame pinnacle bosses

Updated: 6 min read

Boss list and entry items

The wiki defines a pinnacle boss as an endgame boss with its own arena, referenced directly by an Atlas passive skill or keystone. The general rule: you must defeat the base version at least once before you can challenge the Uber version.

The wiki puts Zorath in a separate "league mechanic" group. GGG added him in 3.29.0 as a new Abyss endgame boss with its own unique items. His fragments are tradable, and he does not drop a Voidstone.

The four Voidstones

Since 3.28 you start the Atlas in the centre, and each corner has a slot for one of four Voidstones. The split is:

  • Decayed Voidstone: Shaper and Elder (or Uber Elder),
  • Eldritch Voidstone: Searing Exarch and Eater of Worlds,
  • Originator Voidstone: Incarnation of Dread,
  • Ceremonial Voidstone: The Maven.

A Voidstone shared by two bosses drops on the first kill of the second one of the pair. Each adds an effect to all maps, and together they open Nightmare Maps. According to the wiki, the chance of a Nightmare Map from tier 16 maps is 6.4% with four Voidstones (formula: 0.4% × the number of Voidstones squared).

Before 3.28 things were different: Uber Elder was needed for a Voidstone, and uber bosses required 5 fragments. Older guides (including some labelled 3.29) may be out of date.

Progression order

The wiki lists the bosses "in approximate order of difficulty", and Mobalytics advises starting in the bottom left Atlas quadrant.

  1. Campaign and Atlas start. Defeat Kitava in Act 10, take the A Call to Arms quest in the Epilogue and talk to Commander Kirac. You get a tier 1 map.
  2. Exarch and Eater. From tier 6 maps you meet the Envoy and get a Flesh Compass or a Luminous Astrolabe, which add influence to maps. A tier 11 influenced map boss gives a Writhing or Polaric Invitation, and tier 16 gives a Screaming or Incandescent Invitation. Kill both and you get the Eldritch Voidstone.
  3. Shaper and Elder. Elder Guardian Maps and Shaper Guardians give fragments for the Key to Decay and the Key to the Crucible. Kill both for the Decayed Voidstone.
  4. Incarnation of Dread. The Threads of the Originator quest takes you through Memory Tears and then through Neglect, Fear and Dread in turn. The reward for Dread is the Originator Voidstone.
  5. The Maven. Kill map bosses in her presence (The Maven's Beacon, then Maven's Invitation: The Atlas). Ten Crescent Splinters make The Maven's Writ, and the first kill gives the Ceremonial Voidstone.
  6. Optional: Sirus, Venarius, Zorath. They give no Voidstone, but they are pinnacle bosses (for Sirus you need the Crest of the Elderslayers).
  7. Uber. With four Voidstones, farm Nightmare Maps for fragments.

Key drops

The percentages on the wiki are community estimates from different version windows (3.24–3.29), "Actual drop rates may vary". Treat them as rough.

  • Searing Exarch: Dawnbreaker (63%) and Dawnstrider (35%); Uber: The Annihilating Light (45.5%), The Celestial Brace (1.5%). Version 3.26+.
  • Eater of Worlds: Inextricable Fate (55%), The Gluttonous Tide (43%); Uber: Ravenous Passion (68%), Nimis (about 2%). Versions 3.26–3.27.
  • Shaper: Shaper's Touch (56%), Voidwalker (30%); Uber: Echoes of Creation (32%), Starforge (2%). Since 3.29.0 Uber Shaper also drops The Unblinking Eye (19%).
  • Uber Elder (3.28–3.29): Mark of the Shaper and Mark of the Elder at 35% each, Disintegrator about 2%.
  • Maven (3.28): Legacy of Fury (41%); Uber: Viridi's Veil (52%), Progenesis (2.5%).
  • Sirus (3.29): Hands of the High Templar (43%); Uber: Thread of Hope (Massive Ring, 44%), Zana's Ingenuity (18%, since 3.29).
  • Incarnation of Dread (3.27): Bonemeld (55%); Uber: The Hallowed Monarch (about 54%).
  • Zorath (3.29): Subsume the Source (about 40%). The wiki marks the page as incomplete.

Uber versions: 4 fragments

You fight Uber bosses at area level 85, and the area has the modifier "Monsters take 70% less damage". Fragments (4 of each) drop from Nightmare Map bosses. Since 3.28, Nightmare Maps drop specific fragments instead of merely leaning towards them.

Nightmare areaFragments
AbominationAwakening (Sirus), Reality (Maven)
CitadelCosmic (Shaper), Synthesising (Venarius)
FortressDecaying (Uber Uber Elder), Synthesising (Venarius)
SanctuaryLonely (Neglect), Traumatic (Fear), Reverent (Dread)
ZigguratBlazing (Exarch), Devouring (Eater)

A Nightmare Map boss also drops its own unique and an exceptional support gem (about 5% each, per the wiki). The number of fragments grows with the map's area item quantity: around 235% gives 1–3, 250% and more gives 2–4 (a community estimate).

Who is not a pinnacle boss

The wiki explicitly excludes Uber Atziri, Chayula, Who Dreamt, Nightmare Map bosses and league bosses from this group. Atziri has her own fragments (4× Sacrifice, and 4× Mortal for Uber), but in 3.27 she stopped being required for Maven's Invitation: The Feared. Seller guides often count her as a pinnacle boss; the wiki does not.

Boss killer builds and 3.30

We have no reliable, verified list of "boss killer" builds for 3.29, so we do not recommend any. The wiki gives only loose recommendations for judging whether a build is ready for bosses, not required numbers.

League 3.30 starts on November 13, 2026 (league 3.29 ends on November 9), and GGG will show the details at ExileCon in November. If anything changes in the bosses or in how the endgame unlocks, we will update this article. Start with the beginner's guide, find league dates in the league list, and the plan for 3.30 in the league 3.30 article. Path of Exile 2 has a separate endgame boss article on AFK Times.
