Languages

Text: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Voices: English and Japanese only.

There is no Polish and no Turkish on any platform. Among the Steam community guides there is only a fan-made Ukrainian localization so far (as of October 16).

You can play without understanding the text, since it is an action game with a map. Dialogue and the descriptions of items, cards and relics are only available in the languages above, though. If you are unsure, try the free demo first.

Platforms and PC requirements

Platforms: PC (Steam and Xbox on PC), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch. There is no separate Switch 2 version. The Switch version runs on Switch 2, and KONAMI targets 60 fps on PS5, Xbox and PC and 30 fps on Switch. More: Switch and Switch 2.

Steam Deck: Valve rates the game "Playable" (not "Verified") because some text is too small. KONAMI confirms that parts of the interface go off-screen on the Deck and says it is working on a fix.

On PC many players get a black screen at launch. KONAMI names the cause: V-Sync turned off together with an unlimited frame rate. How to fix it: black screen and other bugs.

Who you play as and what it is about

You play as Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. It is 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Paris is burning and Dracula's castle appears in the heart of the city. Rose carries Dracula's curse in her right arm and fights with the Vampire Killer whip. Trevor appears in the story as a character. You can give Rose his look with the Trevor Style costume from the Midnight Edition.

It is a metroidvania in the style of Symphony of the Night: a large map of Paris and the castle, character levels and backtracking with new abilities. It is not a roguelike like Dead Cells, even though it was made by Evil Empire, the studio behind later Dead Cells updates. Defeated bosses are sealed into Rose's tarot cards as Arcana, which give spells and new moves. The full list: all bosses.

There is no HowLongToBeat data yet, as the game came out on October 15. There are three endings, and after the normal ending you can keep playing on the same save: endings.

Demo and save transfer

The free demo has been available since October 1, 2026 on all platforms. It covers the opening of the game up to the first boss fight (The Fallen). Demo progress carries over to the full game on the same platform, as long as you keep the save.

Age ratings and reception

PEGI 16, USK 16, ESRB Teen. Critics rate the game highly (OpenCritic 86/100, 96% recommend), while Steam user reviews are "Mixed", mostly because of PC bugs. The roundup: is it worth buying.
